About

I went to my first yoga class in 2004 to help rehab a shoulder injury. Yoga was recommended to me to help rebuild strength and flexibility. What surprised me was how good it felt to relax and so I kept coming back.

Since then I have attended many classes and workshops with  good teachers from a variety of yoga traditions and in 2016 completed my teaching qualification accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals. The yoga I enjoy sharing in class is a blend of warming up, movement and held postures based on a yoga mat, an introduction to pranayama breathing techniques as well as deep relaxation.

During 2018 I attended iRest yoga nidra training in Oxfordshire. Run by the  Integrative Restoration Institute (IRI), this relaxation and meditation technique can be practised by everyone regardless of previous experience. As an iRest Level 1 Teacher, I enjoy sharing relaxation and meditation practices as well as continuing to offer asana – physical movement yoga practice.

As a runner I’ve had tight hamstrings. From years of sitting at a desk in an office, I’ve got  tight shoulders. And, as with most of us, had some health niggles related to stress. I enjoy yoga for its all round benefits of keeping my posture upright, joints and muscles mobile as well as the mental health benefits of breathing fully and relaxing.
